MY FAVORITE TRAVEL READS

Since I was a child I have always liked to read about a different place, a different time and about people who were far removed from my midwest upbringing. I was transported. As an adult I can fly through fictional novels like Memoirs of a Geisha, The Kite Runner, The Poisonwood Bible, Daughter of Fortune and Sea of Poppies. I’m still transported. These works of fiction will sometimes trigger a spark and before I know it, a new destination has been added to my travel bucket list.

But, for true adventure I really love to sink my teeth into travel memoirs and biographies. Those stories and experiences that have marked their place in history and often times changed the way we travel today. These are my favorite books I return to again and again:
